Dreamy Kruja with a view: Hotel Panorama

Visiting Kruja is like visiting an open-air museum. The historical capital of Albania’s beauty and cultural importance is appreciated by locals and tourists. This is the place where in the 15th century the Albanian National hero Skanderbeg, fought against Ottomans. The town is a perfect weekend destination as it’s easy to reach from Tirana and offers the right balance between culture and slow travel. Right at the entrance of Pazari i Vjeter, the old bazar, one of the most beautiful and well preserved traditional markets in the Balkan Peninsula, Hotel Panorama is the perfect place to stay in town, eat traditional food, relax at the private rooftop pool that overlooks the majestic beauty of Kruja’s mountains and watch the most memorable sunsets.

ROOMS

Hotel Panorama is not just a hotel but a city’s landmark. A big structure overlooking the old town with a majestic and decorated facade. The rooms and suites of Hotel Panorama range in size and have private bathroom with amenities (for those seeking a more relaxing vacation: some have hydro-massage included). Each room combines modern furnishings to Albanian antiques and a mash-up of texture, pastel colors. Some of the rooms face the old bazar and boast a magnificent view to wake up to or sit on the outdoor private balcony and watch the castle and surroundings.

FOOD & DRINKS

Mornings might start with fried eggs, sausages, local goat cheeses, jams, cakes, fruit juices and fresh yoghurt. The menu of Panorama Restaurant celebrates the local territory and its origins with a fusion of prime Albanian ingredients. Guests can choose between some of the best Albanian flavors. Expect dishes such as spinach pies, grilled meat and seasonal soups. Tave dheu, a casserole with veal meat, yoghurt sauce, peppers and tomatoes, is one of the best you will try in Albania. Everything looks as exquisite as it tastes. Drink menu has a big choice of local and international wines

EXPERIENCES

The recommended experience here is to visit Kruja. From the old bazar with traditional artisan shops to Ethnographic museum focused on local traditions, this Albanian town is full of places to see. Lose yourself in the old castle streets to discover the lesser known places, like Mustafa Baba sanctuary and old mosque ruins, to fall in love with Kruja. But our favourite thing here is the mountain and sea views: majestic and omnipresent. Watch them from Skanderbeg museum’s terrace, the most important cultural hub in Kruja dedicated to the story of national hero. After a day of visits, head to the hotel’s rooftop pool to relax and rest watching the dramatic beauty of Kruja’s mountains.
