Find tranquility at Camping Legjenda, a lush retreat hidden in one of Albania’s most spectacular locations

Tucked into the lush foothills of Rozafa Castle, in the point where Buna and Drini rivers meet, Camping Legjenda’s design puts the property’s green roots front and centre. This property has minimalist rooms, wooden chalets, comfortable bungalows and numerous spaces for tents, caravans and trailers scattered through its 10.000 mq of trees and groves. ROOMS

Camping Legjenda is a eco-friendly boutique hotel with handcrafted wooden structures. The retreat is managed by Franc Nikaj, and his family, who developed the area giving an artistic touch to the environment and turned this place into a touristic resort of historical value. The comfortable rooms are adorned with paintings and pieces of art. The spaces for tents, caravans and trailers are all equipped with electricity. But the true jewels here are bungalows and wooden cabins immersed in the forest, handcrafted, adorned with artworks -like stained glasses or sculptures-, built in harmony with the surrounding environment with solar panels for producing renewable energy. A place where art, tranquility and respect for nature meet and perfectly mix.

FOOD & DRINKS

The restaurant Legjenda has been making waves since opening 18 years ago, plating up a seasonal local menu of farm-fresh produce. Hidden between old trees and surrounded by a traditional Scutarian lush garden, this restaurant is the perfect place to spend quality time with your family and friends in the greenery, tasting the best local dishes and specialties while admiring paintings, stone walls, wooden ceiling revealing the ancient legend of Rozafa castle (hence the name Legjenda). Order the lake fish soup, traditional carp casserole and fresh salad -everything is as tasty as it looks. 

EXPERIENCES

Guests enter via a verdant courtyard, while, in the central area, a large pool and sun decks are shaded by leafy trees. This is the perfect place to relax after a day full of visits. Camping Legjenda is superbly located close to the city center (don’t miss the opportunity to visit Marubi Museum, dedicated to photography), Rozafa Castle, a must visit in Albania, and a few meters away from lake Shkodra, the largest lake in the Balkans -you can even book a kayaking tour to discover its natural beauties, directly at the reception. Guided tours around the magnificent Albanian Alps are a highlight, taking in forests, old buildings, mountain hamlets and 130-year-old church in the village of Theth, as well as waterfalls and wild rivers.
